applying the spatial justice
benchmarking tool
Diagnosis, Dialogue and Action Workshop
15:00 – 17:00
Details
This two-and-a-half-hour workshop introduces participants to the Spatial Justice Benchmarking Tool developed by the Centre for the Just City at TU Delft and the UP2030 consortium. The tool supports cities and practitioners in assessing how distributive, procedural, and recognitional injustices shape urban space, and how these patterns emerge across governance systems, policy cycles, and everyday practices. Through a mix of short inputs, demonstration, and collaborative diagnosis, the session guides participants in interpreting the tool’s indicators, identifying structural inequalities, and translating findings into justice-oriented planning strategies. The workshop is designed for planners, policymakers, researchers, and community partners interested in applying justice-sensitive evaluation methods to real urban challenges.
Activity Format
Participants work in small groups to analyse a provided neighbourhood profile using selected indicators from the tool. Each group formulates a justice diagnosis and outlines possible interventions and governance pathways.
- Workshop materials will be provided
- No prior experience with spatial justice frameworks is required
